People Don’t Care How Much You Know Until They Know How Much You Are

Awhile ago I made a post about branding and I picked Victoria Beckham as my main talk of that post. So, I hope by now you would have realised the importance of branding when it comes to blogging.

If you want to make money blogging, you can’t just be a blogger, you have got to be your own celebrity!

Let’s take a closer look at this sentence, “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you are.”

If you’re a new blogger in the market and you are excited about sharing some cool tips you learnt with your “readers” and you popped it up on your blog and there was no respond. Don’t get disheartened! This is the most common problem that most new blogger face and true enough, I faced it myself too! USED TO! You may be actually revealing the top ten secrets to make money online but nobody cares because they don’t know who you are. John Chow may be talking about what he ate for dinner last week and the whole world would be rambling about it. So,

1) Get Sociable And Start Networking - No Facebook? Create one! No Twitter? Start one! Don’t be that lazy potato couch thinking that blogging alone will make you popular and lots of money. Start making friends on these social networks and I am pretty sure at least, ok AT LEAST, 40% of them will turn in your loyal blog readers. Start twitting interesting stuff, or interact with the people you follow and if you they find you interesting, they will follow back and check out your stuff too.

2) Make Sure You Have A Photo - I have said this a million times but I still see a whole bunch of people out there without any photos. Shy? No case! Having a photo builds up your credibility by ten folds. Nobody cares whether you are a supermodel or not, you don’t need to be to put your photo on your blog, twitter page or facebook. But, be sure to smile!

3) Be Talkative And Helpful On Forums - I made list of 120 dofollow forums and it is viewed by about 300 people daily. Join these forums and start knowing people and letting people know you. Besides building up your brand when you start to post more often on the forum, you get back links from these dofollow signatures as well. Be sure to leave your name in the signature instead of some spammy message like “For More News, Please Click Here”. Trust me, no one is going to click.

4) Write A Guest Post - Your blog maybe unpopular, but the blogs you read are popular! Since you have a great post in hand and don’t mind sharing your tips, submit one of your articles to the ‘already popular’ blogger. I am pretty sure he or she wouldn’t mind any quality free article on their blog. From there, you will build up your own name and blog and surely a part of them will convert to become your own fans. Don’t think that you’re losing out good content for your own blog when you guest post, you’re actually gaining more than you put in. Backlinks, traffics, branding, you name it.

5) Need more tips? I don’t think so! If you managed to complete Tip No. 1 to No. 4, you would probably be writing your own tips already. By then, you would have a loyal base of readers yourself! All you need to do is to stay confident and constant. That’s my last tip for you here!

Go out and tell the whole world who you are!
